Ok, I just tried connecting with another computer and it hangs at "Logging in" every time. It could be just me hanging at "Downloading terrain" since I didn't verify with other users. So every user hangs at "Logging in", and I (running on the server machine) hang at "Downloading terrain". Edit: Yes, client and server are newest version. I assume the "Downloading terrain" glitch is because your internet connection is slow. When I have bad ping, I get stuck on that screen for a very long time. My advice is to find a world that has <20 players in it. Even with bad ping/connection, the loading time for these low player worlds takes about 15 seconds or less.
